WWE execs had an ambitious plan to be the first brand to pull a 1-rated show, in this case WWE NXT, off from television and solely onto the digital space. They had examined the market potential, saw the power of social media and believed that the show, if broadcasted online, could do as good, if not better than television. The numbers were there and the advertising/sponsorship interests as well. Furthermore, by living on WWE.com instead, the show can be tailored fit to the reality tv nature of the show - dedicating a home to the show serving the fan's needs and wants 24/7 instead of once a week. Based on these requirements, I architected a versatile/dynamic site that was pretty much a video player but had two modes, live/broadcast and on-demand. In addition, each of these modes would be surrounded by the appropriate companion widgets that serve the purposes of each user mental model. Chatting and commenting for live/broadcast view and browsing/digging for on-demand view.
